About Lady Lois
Bonjour, and welcome.
I'm so glad you're here.
My name is Lois Amandla Awetu Mitchell, though many who know me simply call me Lady Lois.
By profession, I am a registered nurse with more than a decade of experience in critical care. My work has carried me through intensive care units across the United States, where I've had the profound privilege of witnessing both the fragility and resilience of the human spirit. Between the beeps of monitors and whispered prayers, I have learned that every life carries a story worth telling.
By calling, however, I am a storyteller.
I write about life as I experience it—its joys, its sorrows, its unexpected humor, and the quiet moments that often pass unnoticed. Whether I'm reflecting on a delayed flight in an empty airport, sharing lessons learned from the bedside, exploring love and relationships, celebrating my Guyanese heritage, or simply enjoying a cup of tea beneath the Arizona sun, I hope my words remind readers to slow down and notice the beauty woven into ordinary days.
My stories are deeply influenced by my faith, my Caribbean roots, my love of history, travel, literature, and the timeless elegance of the French countryside. I believe homes should be places of peace, conversations should nourish the soul, and hospitality is one of life's greatest gifts.
When I'm not writing, you'll likely find me reading classic literature, exploring antique shops, decorating my home, planning my next adventure, or somewhere between airports with a notebook in one hand and a cup of coffee—three creams, no sugar—in the other.
This website is more than a collection of books and blog posts. It is a gathering place for thoughtful conversations, shared laughter, quiet reflection, and stories that remind us we are never truly traveling alone.
Whether you've come for my books, my blog, or simply because you stumbled upon this little corner of the internet, I hope you'll stay awhile.
Pour yourself a cup of tea.
Get comfortable.
And welcome home.
With gratitude,
Lady Lois
